Lazarev Konstantin Leonidovich, M.D., professor is the head of the department.

He is the graduate of the Crimean State Medical University of 1979. He began his career being a chief doctor of medical dispensary in the Nikolayev region. He’s been working at the CSMI since 1974. He started as a senior lab assistant at the department of operative surgery with the topographical anatomy and is working now being the head of the department of medical biology. He’s the M.D. since 1992. The topic of his thesis is “Morphofunctional aspects of kidney transplantation with the surgical restoration of lymph outflow ways”. His speciality is general anatomy. Since 1994 he’s been a professor of the department of medical biology and since 2000- head of the department.

Scientific direction of his works is transplantology, plastics and reactivity of tissue structures of some organs and systems in the condition of changes in/of homeostasis. He worked out experimentally the ways of kidney transplantation with restoration of blood, lymph and nerve bonds, he is the author of more than 160 research works, 3 inventions and 65 innovation proposals. One M.D. and two Ph.D. in medicine theses were prepared under his supervision.

Professor Lazarev contributed a lot to the development of educational and methodical work of the department both of CSMU and biological departments of different higher schools of Ukraine in teaching discipline “Medical biology” in English. He’s the author of more than 20 student manuals including a manual written in English. He’s awarded a badge “Inventor of the USSR”, diplomas of the Supreme Soviet of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ministry of education and science of Ukraine and government of Ukraine (2006).
